Passion
My students are my passion. They are the purpose for why I do what I do. They bring joy to my work and serve as agents of change.
I may never know how something I've done may influence one of them in a positive manner. I maintain faith that they will do great things. They are my influence on the world.
Change
I have been a part of the technology evolution since the 1980's. I've moved from booting a computer lab with a cassette tape to immersing my students in augmented realities. I've seen punch cards, floppy disks and CD-ROMs come and go. The one constant through it all was change and opportunity. With every change came the opportunity to do amazing things with children. With time you can always expect change so looking to the future has always been an act of exciting anticipation.
Here's to the crazy ones...they change things.
Impact
Early in my career I set a professional goal that would impact what I would do for the rest of my life.
"I want to have a positive impact on as many students as I possibly can."
While it sounds simple, this goal has driven me in advancing my education and in becoming a professor of education.
It's all about impacting lives. This is what good teachers do.
A teacher affects eternity, he can never tell where his influence stops ~ Henry Adams
