ISTE Educator Standards Microcredentials Project

The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) created a collaborative team with the purpose of designing a badging system for pre- and inservice teachers. The focus of the system was to provide a means for these teachers to demonstrate competencies in alignment with the ISTE Standards for Teachers.

The team was composed of faculty from Penn State University, Brigham Young University, Purdue University, the University of Memphis, Central Michigan University and Graceland University.

As shown in the image at the left, the team met via video conference every two weeks. This provided members time to conduct research, work on badge development, etc.

In March 2018, a proposal was presented to ISTE Board representatives for review. The current plan is to unveil the badging system at the 2018 ISTE conference in June.
